Socialism

Substantive freedom requires scrutiny of who owns and controls production.

What it claims

Socialism locates problems of justice in production and ownership, not only in redistribution after incomes arise. A worker who must sell labor to survive and an owner able to decide whether to buy it can face structural inequality despite a formally voluntary contract. Socialist proposals include social ownership, worker self-management, market socialism, and forms of shared or universal assets.
